Poet:
R. Moore Age: 15
Name of Poem: Untitled
In the world today,
Who's to question,
What's right and wrong.
We try to make things better,
But they just seem to get worse.
There are two roads to travel down,
The hard and the easy.
Life being the hard.
And death being the easy.
When you can't take the hard road,
You seen to make it harder On all of us.
Some people see the world
The way it is and ask, "Why?"
Others see it the way it could be,
And ask "Why not?"
Kicking and screaming
Yelling and fighting
What kind of world is today's?
The weaker one who can't take it,
Make the pain and hurting worse on all of us.
I choose the hard road
For I am strong enough
And face life with high hopes for the future.
You'll have to choose your own road,
So what's it gonna be?
Poet:
S. Briggs Age: 11
Name of Poem: Santa
Merry Christmas Girls and Boys
Bring out all the Marching Toys
Boys will get the Bouncing Balls
Girls will get the Baby Dolls
Santa has come,
You don't know when,
Wait till next year,
He'll come again.
Poet:
S. Maneli Age: 15
Name of Poem: Fading Star
Fading like trees in the fall
You're only beautiful in the sun
Just a naked tree standing tall
Our moments were just as fun.
With moonlight casting shadows
On your dim, yet twinkling face
Just as quick your smiles
Disappeared without a trace
Only for your sake
Could I have ever come this far
Into the drifting twilight
Your soul has faded like a star
My memories of you have come
Quite swiftly in the night
And every day I waited
For the moment to come just right
When I would dream a dream so rare
To keep me safe throughout
Cause' your love to me is so precious
I could never do without
Only for your sake
Could I have ever come this far
Into the drifting twilight
Your soul has faded like a star
