The
Dream Dragon is proud to introduce the child selected
to be used as the main character in the new Dream
Dragon E-Picture Book, An Adventure In Dreamland.
He is a handsome four-year-old boy named
Dakota Ortiz. Dakota is a survivor of childhood
cancer & we are excited to welcome him as our
new picture book character! We have some
NEW EXCITING news about Dakota! He
has been selected to be the poster child for the
National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS)
Year 2000 Rays of Hope Candlelight Vigil in Washington
D.C. Details below!
Dakota
was born in March of 1996. He has an older
sister named Madison and his Mom & Dad are
Laura and Max. They currently live in Royal
Oak, Michigan. When Dakota was only 14
months old he was diagnosed with a rare variant
of Wilms Tumor called Clear Cell Sarcoma of the
Kidney. Dakota had his right kidney removed
and then he underwent radiation treatment and
chemotherapy. He has successfully battled
his cancer and has been in remission since November
of 1997, YEAH! Dakota wants everyone to
know that he is just like every other four year
old child, except that he thinks it is very important
for people to be aware of and learn about the
different cancers that effect children just like
him.

We
learned about Dakota from our friend Judy Kammler
with the Kids Cancer Connection. When Dakota
and his family lived in California, they were
very active with KCC. There was a National
Search to find the child for this E-Picture Book.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation was even helping
to find the right child. Then we found him!
Dakota Ortiz! We are very thankful that
Judy and KCC introduced us to Dakota and we look
forward to Dakota becoming a bright, shining STAR!
Dakota
wanted everyone to meet a very special friend
of his. This is "Bunny".
Bunny has been there for Dakota since the very
beginning of his treatment and was a great help
with Dakota's recovery. Bunny gave up his
precious fur to make it easier for little Dakota
to deal with the pain and scariness of cancer
treatment. We really appreciate all the
sacrifice that Bunny has made for his very best
friend! You can see Bunny come to life in
the New E-Picture Book, An Adventure In Dreamland!
